SOCCER: Macclesfield kept up their 100% record with their fifth consecutive win which sees them sitting proudly on top of the league.

The u10s game was played in torrential rain but an excellent team performance by the girls produced a 4-1 win over Witton Albion.

Strong running in midfield by Siobhan McNulty and Lauren Makepeace proved to be too much for Witton as they took control of the game.

The opening goal came from Lucy Summerscales when she ran onto a defence splitting pass by Jodie Burgess, to finish with a low shot from just inside the penalty area. Constant pressure resulted in Lucy making it 2 - 0 at half time.

Macc continued the pressure after the break and with the introduction of Hannah Priestley-Eaton and Morgan Bailey, who both continued to show fine progress, it was only a matter of time before the lead was increased.

The understanding between forwards Jodie and Lucy allowed Lucy to score two more goals, the pick of them being a fine volley from a corner.

Jess Pritchard and Freyja Greenhall put in solid performances in defence, but managed to give a penalty away to allow Witton a consolation goal. Goalkeeper Abbey Dowse who had been virtually a spectator was replaced by Lauren and was soon snapping at the heels of Witton in midfield!
