SOCCER: Kyle Lightbourne's goal against Shrewsbury gains the plaudits as Macc's treatment room gets busy, in this week's Lee Glover column.

Who let the Kyle out? Who, who, who? What a great goal from the big man last week.

A superb piece of skill, it was no fluke - as he tried the same shot in the away game at Shrewsbury just before Christmas. That night the 'keeper made an excellent save.

Kyle has had his problems this season with injury, but this goal will give him a great deal of confidence.

I'm spending more time than I would like with the physio at the moment.

Not because he is bad company, rather that I am injured.

I've referred to him as 'Stalin' in the past, and he's lived up to that name by being a very hard taskmaster.

To be fair, he needs to be, because last week, Hitch, Danny Adams, Byrnesie and myself were all injured.

With this motley crew, you need to be on the ball, which Andy was.

He was constantly motivating us: "Byrnesie, do your weights. Danny, have a swim! Hitch, get on the stepper! Gloves - bike!"

All the lads are given a routine depending on their injury.

Andy moves quietly round the gym looking for malingerers.

He has set up a code of conduct for injured players.

Arrive on time in the morning, no mobile phones in the treatment room, and keep a smile on your face.

Smiling is probably the hardest thing to do, as all the lads want to play.

Andy manages to keep everyone's spirits up, and get us back on the pitch quickly.

A special mention must be made of the facilities and staff at Tytherington Health Club.

It's nice to work in such a pleasant environment.

As I mentioned last week, our fans travelling to Kidderminster went by steam train.

The game was called off, but the fans made the best of a rainy day.

I am told they were all 'steaming' when they got back to Macc!
