THE MACCLESFIELD based Redline Superbikes sidecar pairing of Gary and Dan Knight claimed two podium spots in round two of the British Championships.

The two-race round was held at the Knockhill circuit, just north of Edinburgh.

With torrential rain forecast, the father-and-son team approached Scotland with trepidation as they looked to sustain their third spot in the rankings.

Redline qualified for race one in second place and shot off from the front row and had to hold off challenges from the Hegarty brothers and world champion Tim Reeves.

After a crash caused the race to be stopped with seven laps left, the Knights held on for third place.

Although the rain had held off for race one, by the start of the second a shower had begun.

The Redline team again took the lead from the off.

However, five laps from the finish, a vibrating rear tyre caused them to lose power and traction.

After being overtaken by their rivals from race one, the Knights held on for their podium spot in an identical top three.

Driver Gary Knight said: "All in all, it was not a bad weekend's racing and at least we now have a brand new set of tyres nicely scrubbed in."

The Knights retain third place as they prepare for round three, to be held at Cadwell Park in August.
