FANCY getting involved in one of the fastest-growing junior sports in the North West? Well, you'd better get your skates on quick!

Macclesfield Roller Hockey club are gearing up for another new season, and are on the lookout for some new players to add to their ranks by September.

The club have come on leaps and bounds over the last few years - and are now looking to enter a competitive league based at Salford University.

Boys and girls aged seven to 16 currently train at the club, and senior star Ben Sykes said any youngsters who are tired of football and rugby should give roller hockey a whirl.

He told us: "It's a fast, exciting sport and the sessions are monitored by qualified coaches."

"We teach the basic rules of skating and it goes on from there. It's all about taking part - and the sport is a lot of fun."

Training is held every Saturday between 11am and 1pm at AZ near Alderley Park, and currently attracts over 20 local players each week of all ages.
