RU: There are just three more North One games to play for Macclesfield and all of them are important after leaders Cleckheaton failed at West Hartlepool.

That means that, temporarily at least, Macc lead the table on points difference, and while Darlington duly beat Driffield by 52-14 and Chester beat Huddersfield 29-12, this means that North One is the most evenly-fought league for many a season.

Iain Taylor's side must simply win all their games by as big a margin as possible to be in with a shout, in the hope that either Cleckheaton, Darlington or Chester drop more points in their run-ins.

There will be no complacency for the trip to Lockwood Park this Saturday (March 15) as Huddersfield almost won at Priory Park on November 9 last when Macc won by the narrowest of margins (21-19) after the lead had changed hands during the game.

Huddersfield, who came into North One after a promotion play-off last season, have not fared as well as they would have liked in this difficult league, and they lie in the relegation area with only eight points from their 18 games.

It was good to see Ross Harper return late on in the game last Saturday, and hopefully both Myles Mason and Ben Coulbeck will be fit for this one.

Huddersfield play at Lockwood Park, Brewery Drive in Lockwood. Take the A616 signed Holmfirth and then the B6108 signed Meltham. The club phone number is 01484 469801.
