HENBURY and Broken Cross JFC were nominated as the BBC Community Club of the Year at the Shell Partnership sports award evening at Mere Golf and Country club last Monday.

The club reached the final five from more than 1,000 other teams before losing out to eventual winners Northwich Rugby Club. The award recognised the hard work and development of excellence by the club, and was presented by Stephanie Moore, widow of England's World Cup winning captain, Bobby Moore, and England Ladies goalkeeper Rachel Brown.
