Alderley Edge Hockey Club have picked up one of the sport’s major awards.

The club won the Harvester Club of the Season award at a English Hockey Association lunch in London.

The club, who recently raised funds to build a new hockey pitch at their ground in Macclesfield, had several successes on the field last season as well.

The women’s first team won the EHA Women’s Vase as champions of Cheshire League Division One.

The women’s second team won Division Four while the women’s third and fourth teams were also promoted.

The men’s second team also won promotion in the Cheshire League.

There was also success for the club’s Under-12 and Under-10 boys’ teams who completed the season as champions of the Cheshire Mini Hockey Competition.

The club, one of the oldest and most successful in Cheshire, was founded in 1888.
