KING'S School young athletes were jumping for joy after rising to the challenge at the British Schools’ Trampoline Championships.

More than 100 schools travelled to Birmingham for what is one of the trampolining world’s blue ribbon events.

King’s had a fabulous five teams qualify from the North West and North of Britain heats and incredibly four made it to the podium with elite performer Rowena Moores picking up a bronze medal in the under-11 event.

King’s trampoline and cheerleading coach Rachael Burrows said: "I am very proud of all the King’s performers.

"It has been a long journey from the first qualifying competition last December to reaching the British Championships this March.

"I am delighted that the under-13 girls elite achieved British Champion status and Rowena had a marvellous competition."

The competition was of an exceptional standard but the King’s pupils handled the pressure well and performed some outstanding routines to become the most honoured school at the event.

The under-13 girls elite team of Katie Cornish, Beth Burrows, Katharine Fray and Justine Blake were crowned National Champions.

The under-13 boys elite team of Dan Hinchcliffe, Tom Eastgate and Jon Pinches were second and the under-11 girls elite team of Rowena Moores, Fiona Cornish, Hannah Braker, Charlotte Horne finished fourth just missing podium position by 0.1.

The under-11 novice girls and boys teams of Antonia Bianchi, Emily Robinson, Erica Jones, Jessie Milton-Edwards for the girls, and Harry Pinches, Alex Fray, Sammy Chong and Ben Lynch for the boys, were both third.
