SHRIGLEY Hall pairs dominated the am-am section of the Robert Wax Trophy competition, taking all three places in the prize list.
Leading in after winning a card play-off on 38 points were John Phillips and Ross Birch from club colleague Steve Rhodes and Roy Hargreaves.
The am-am roll of honour was completed by the third Shrigley pairing of Brian Hopkins and Julian Millard with 36 points.
Styal Golf Club are the new holders of the Robert Wax Trophy, the Alliance’s newest silverware, as professional Glynn Traynor and captain Doug Roberts were the highest club pairing with 41 points as they finished third in the pro-am section.
Valerie Wax, Robert’s widow, presented the trophy.
The dynamic duo were also pleased to receive numerous compliments from all of the players for the superb condition and challenge of the rapidly maturing Styal course.
Alan Bullock, the competition sponsor, did not enjoy the best of days on the course and his woe was completed when a crow lifted his ball off the ninth green and dropped it into a nearby bunker.
The top pro-am pairing was Ellesmere assistant pro Martyn Hamer and his amateur partner Sam Waxman with a fine haul of 44 points.
Next in on 41, and beating the Styal pair on a cpo on 41, were Knutsford pro Tim Maxwell and his amateur partner James Howarth (Mottram Hall).
