MACCLESFIELD Town Ladies stormed through to the next round of the North West Women's League Cup with a 4-2 win over Greater Manchester Police.

The game began evenly but Macc were first to launch a good attack and Jade Treanor shot just wide.

But a chance for player-of-the-match Treanor to net came when she was handed a penalty, after Farrah Damoni was brought down in the box. Treanor duly converted from the spot.

GMP equalised on the stroke of half-time with a good shot from the edge of the box.

In the second half Sophie Thomason and Sophie Massey had good strikes but the visitors countered and took the lead.

The Silkgirls had to react quickly and minutes later Jenna Mape fed Thomason in the box and she finished coolly.

Macc introduced Beth Clark for her first team debut and right away her extra pace troubled GMP.

Damoni eluded the defence and side-footed past the keeper.

Macclesfield continued to attack; Clark had a header saved before Damoni was fed a pass and again she put the chance away.
