Connor Jennings returned from a five-game ban to fire Macclesfield to their first victory of the season.

A red card for the young striker last month, compounded by a confrontation with the official who'd dismissed him, saw him sit out the action in recent weeks but he came back to action with a vengeance.

Jennings hit two in the first half to give Macc the initiative and he set up a goal for Jack Mackreth late on to send Woking home empty-handed.

The first came on 11 minutes, after Chris Holroyd's shot was parried by Sam Beasant but Jennings leapt at the chance to drill home his first for the club.

While Woking rarely threatened Jennings and his strike partner Chris Holroyd saw efforts taken by Beasant, but the keeper was beaten at his near post by Jennings' second, a powerful header from Peter Winn's left-hand cross.

Five minutes after the restart former Silkman Anthony McNamee cut in from his right flank and curled a shot against the cross bar but Woking fell three behind before Guiseppe Sole fired in a late goal.

That came moments after Jennings had turned provider, his one-two with Jack Mackreth setting up the winger for a fine strike into the bottom corner to seal the victory, meaning Kevin Betsy's injury-time goal was mere consolation for Woking.
