SECOND-HALF strikes from Liam Dickinson and in-form Adam Proudlock secured victory and bragging rights over Macclesfield.
Despite being under pressure for much of the game, Dickinson served up the decisive opener on 63 minutes with a flashing near post header.
County sealed the victory deep into injury time when Jon Brain could only parry a Dickinson drive into the path of Proudlock, who gleefully buried the ball in front of Stockport's delerious support.
The Hatters had on loan Conrad Logan to thank for keeping them in the game with a string of outstanding saves.
In the first half he stopped a low shot from Adam Murray and a neat lob from Francis Green, before his most impressive effort came after the break when a low drive from Green was clawed wide by his giant hand.
Stockport woke up after their goal and before he scored Proudlock should have had another, instead scooping a simple 10 yard drive over the bar on 80 minutes.
