Champions struggling for form

Club AZ 0-1 Juno Utd

Two home defeats in a row for last season’s First Division champions leaves AZ languishing in mid-table after their season started so full of promise.

Despite having the vast majority of the play they were caught by a sucker punch as Andy Potter struck with the visitors’ only chance of the game to put them level on points with second-placed Mary Dendy.

Boarhound 2-2 Old Alts Vets

The Vets twice came from behind to earn a well deserved point against Boarhound.

In a closely contested contest at Congleton Road, Andy Foote and striker Dan Frost were on target for Boarhound while Mike Steele scored for the Vets, as did Tony Dawson, who grabbed his second of the season.

Poynton Kingfisher 2-1 Poynton

Kingfisher recorded their first win of the season as they took derby honours against rivals Poynton at Woodford Recreation Ground.

Two goals to the good at the break despite having missed a penalty, the home side rode their luck and hung on to take three welcome points.

Mark Oxborough scored a consolation 10 minutes from time for the visitors.

Kingfisher’s win sees them leapfrog Poynton in the table.
