Silks earn their first win

Macclesfield Town Silks 3 Deans 1: AN EXCELLENT performance saw Macclesfield secure their first win of the season following their promotion to Division One.

The game couldn’t have started better for the home side as, after just five minutes, a fine cross from Natalie Richbell was met by Janet Bebbington, who put her drive well past the keeper.

With the bit between their teeth, Macc put on the pressure and, three minutes later, were two up.

Becky Hinde powered into the area, dummied the defenders and shot the ball home.

The Silks dominated the rest of the half and looked for more goals but, despite a succession of good efforts, the score remained 2-0 at half-time.

Having been much the better team in the first half, Macc inexplicably lost their way after the restart and Deans were in charge for the first 15 minutes, during which time they pulled a goal back.

With the game now open, the Silks looked nervous for the first time but gradually began to take more control.

Deans also had their opportunities and with such a slender lead, Macc were in real need of another goal to make the match safe.

This eventually came in injury time when Maddy Davidson struck a long drive that evaded the dive of the Deans keeper.

The Silks played out the last few minutes in a more relaxed mood and then celebrated a thoroughly deserved victory.
