It was a tale of two halves as Macclesfield Town came from behind to score three second-half goals in four minutes and beat Dartford 3-1.

The Darts took the lead in the 13th minute through a Matty Godden penalty, but remain in search of their first away win since August after a goal from Scott Boden and a Connor Jennings double left them third from bottom following their fourth consecutive defeat.

Macc started brighter and Danny Whitaker came close in the second minute when Alan Julian punched out Danny Rowe’s corner which fell nicely for Whitaker, whose effort was deflected.

Jennings showed he is more than just a goalscorer when he won the ball in midfield and beat a number of Dartford players to cross one in to Boden, who couldn’t quite get his foot onto it and sneaked one just wide of the post.

A moment of madness from Rhys Taylor resulted in a penalty for Dartford in the 13th minute. Adam Birchall latched onto a long ball forward and burst into Macc’s penalty area. Taylor came rushing out of position and brought the striker down on the edge of the area.

On-loan Scunthorpe striker Godden stepped up to the plate and drilled past Taylor.

This was Dartford’s only chance of the first-half, and Macc continued to press.

Rowe created the Silkmen’s best chance in the 23rd minute, with a stunning left-footed strike from 25 yards.

It seemed to be going in when Julian dropped his initial catch, but somehow he prevented the equaliser and parried the ball away.

Macc had two penalty shouts  when Jennings was fouled twice in quick succession in the area, but the referee waved play on.

Man-of-the-match Paul Turnbull fancied his chances of recreating his goal from Tuesday night just before half time, with a volley from the edge of the box that ended up over the stand.

Boden’s determination paid off, and he made amends for his earlier missed chances in the 66th minute when Steve Williams headed down Rowe’s corner, which fell for Boden to score his sixth of the season.

The Silkmen took the lead just two minutes later when Jennings latched onto Boden’s flick-on and fired against the crossbar, only to run onto the rebound and slot past substitute keeper Forecast.

The game was sealed straight from the restart, when Jack Mackreth crossed to Jennings who volleyed in from the edge of the box in the 69th minute to score his 16th of the season.
