Macclesfield Town 1 Stoke City 1: MOSS Rose favourite Jon Parkin scored with a trademark header to secure Championship side Stoke City a draw.

The Beast's much-anticipated return to Macc saw him beat Tommy Lee with a powerful strike ten minutes before the break.

The hosts had taken an early lead when Carl Regan finished a flowing move involving Francis Green and Michael Husbands, who set Danny Thomas free on the left.

The pacy winger sent a low ball across the face of goal and Regan was left with a simple tap-in.

Husbands saw a shot tipped over the bar by Potters' keeper Steve Simonson, before Lee denied Vincent Pericard an equaliser.

Shortly after a Danny Swailes header went wide of its target, Parkin's goal levelled matters and the teams went in at half-time at 1-1.

Former Hereford and MK Dons stopper Matt Baker took over from Lee in the second half and, after an hour, Kevin McIntyre made way for on-trial left-back Callum Hart.

Richard Edghill almost opened his Macc account in spectacular fashion, his volley from the edge of the box just going wide.

Parkin saw a shot tipped wide by Baker and hit one effort wide, while Matthew Flynn almost grabbed a late winner for Macc, but he couldn't direct his diving header on target as the clock ran down.
