AN ANNOUNCEMENT on the official website states that the new manager will be announced tomorrow (Friday).
Chairman Rob Bickerton's statement says: "Obviously the timing of Paul's departure was far from ideal given the new season is less than six weeks away.
"As a board we are very mindful of this fact and, with the players due to report back for pre-season training, an early appointment is what we have been aiming for. We hope to be in a position to announce our new manager by Friday afternoon at the very latest."
The club had reached the interview stage for potential candidates this week and, given Paul Ince's obvious desire to leave Macc, the club will have been planning his replacement for some time and recruitment process appears to be virtually over.
Whoever the new man is, he should be given the fans' full support. And let's remember: The club is in a much stronger position (in terms of its current league position, finances, profile and, dare I suggest, the playing staff) than last October, when Ince and his team came to the Moss Rose.
One thing's for sure, we'll all be waiting intently to find out who will lead us into the new season.
