Beast's move brings Macc a cash windfall

27/ 6/2007

FORMER Macc striker Jon Parkin has completed his transfer to Stoke City.

'The Beast' spent the latter part of last season on loan at the Britannia Stadium from Hull City, and has now made his switch to the Potteries permanent.

Parkin's three-year deal saw Stoke pay an initial £275,000, which could rise in the future to £450,000, depending on both his and the club's success.

A sell-on clause in his move from Macclesfield in January 2006 means that the club are set to receive a substantial payout.

The popular striker (pictured above during his Macc days) scored 36 goals in over 100 games during his two years at the Moss Rose.

He had been attracting the interest of Stoke's Championship rivals Cardiff City but opted for a move to the club he made an impression at during last season's loan period, and one which was nearer to his home town of Barnsley.
