Ince at head of Dons’ hunt

20/ 6/2007

SPECULATION has once again arisen that Paul Ince is to leave Macclesfield Town.

In an increasingly regular feature of his Moss Rose tenure, Ince has emerged as the bookmakers' favourite for the vacant manager's position at Milton Keynes Dons.

A story in the Milton Keynes Citizen claims that Ince has overtaken the previous frontrunner, Micky Adams.

The Dons post became available last month when Martin Allen left the National Hockey Stadium for the manager's post at Leicester City, another job Ince was thought to have been almost certain to leave the Moss Rose for.

A Dons source said: "Pete Winkelman [club chairman] is still sifting through the many applications received and, although the position will be resolved shortly, there are still things to be sorted."

Ince signed a 14-month contract in October, with a six-month rolling deal option thereafter.

Neither club would confirm or deny any approach made for the Macc boss.
