‘Ince for Foxes’ speculation over

MACC manager Paul Ince will not be taking over the reins at Leicester City.

Rumours were circulating that the former England captain was top of new Foxes' owner Milan Mandaric and one online bookmaker had stopped taking bets on Ince moving to the Walkers Stadium in the summer.

However, Mandaric has replaced the sacked Rob Kelly's temporary replacement, Nigel Worthington, with Martin Allen.

The highly-rated Allen guided the MK Dons to the League Two play-offs in his first season in charge at the National Hockey Stadium.

His tenure at Milton Keynes, after two play-off appearances as manager at Brentford, highlighted his abilities and a job higher up the Football League was always likely.

Similarly, Ince's remarkable turnaround since coming to the Moss Rose at the end of October is sure to have caught the eye of a host of clubs looking to bring a new manager in before the start of next season.

Ince is contracted to Macclesfield Town until the end of December, after which he has a six-month rolling contract.

Interest from 'bigger clubs' in Ince will come as no surprise, given his man-management skills, enthusiasm and short-term success in his transition from player to boss.

However, having completed one of a football manager's most dreaded tasks - releasing out-of-contract players - Ince is now about to embark on a transfer looking to make improvements that ensure that the Silkmen are at the right end of the table next time around.
