Preview: Macc Town v Aldershot, Sat 3pm

8/10/2008

LEAGUE Two new boys Aldershot Town visit the Moss Rose after a remarkable comeback against high-flying Bury.

Rob Elvins, Scott Davies and Daniel Hylton scored in a comeback from 3-0 down at home to the Shakers, who began last Saturday in top spot. The draw maintained the eighth-placed Shots’ unbeaten home record.

Aldershot ended last season at the head of the Blue Square Premier and, although they are unbeaten at the Recreation Ground since joining the Football League, manager Gary Waddock will want to see an improvement on their travels.

After an opening day victory at Accrington Stanley, his side have lost all three on the road.

Their captain, former Manchester City trainee Rhys Day, is currently sidelined with a hernia problem.

The Shots have Day’s fellow centre-back Dave Winfield sidelined with a knee injury, although player-coach Ricky Newman is available again after a three-game suspension.

At the other end of the field, Reading loanee Davies heads the goalscoring with three to his name. Although Aldershot have knocked in 14, each of their four wins has come by a single goal.
