Clay stay is at an end

17/ 9/2008

DEFENDER Clayton McDonald has returned to Manchester City after it was revealed his loan spell will not be extended.

The City trainee joined on an initial one-month deal but, after just two appearances for the Silkmen, McDonald’s spell has been brought to a close.

Manager Keith Alexander outlined the reason for McDonald leaving the club, and said that he would not have been able to offer him regular first team football. Paul Morgan, Shaun Brisley, Sean Hessey and Matthew Flynn were all ahead of the City academy star.

Alexander said: "We agreed to shake hands and he leaves with our best wishes."

MACC’S youth team were denied a derby win over their Chester City counterparts, who equalised with the last kick of the game. In Saturday’s 2-2 draw, Vinny Mukendi scored a goal in each half for Macc, heading home Scott Beckett’s 15th minute cross and coolly slotting home in the 80th minute. However, Chester had drawn level shortly before the break, and goalkeeper Ryan Moss failed to prevent a last-gasp cross from going in to give their hosts a point from the North West Youth Alliance clash.
