League Two big match preview

20/ 8/2008

Accrington Stanley v Macclesfield Town

Saturday, August 23, 3pm at the Fraser Eagle Stadium

MACC travel north to Lancashire in search of their first league points, and their first league goal, of the season on Saturday.

Stanley’s last outing was a 2-0 win at Port Vale, Ian Craney scoring the opener before moving to Huddersfield this week for a six-figure sum.

Their home form is still causing headaches for manager John Coleman. They lost 15 of their 23 home games last season and lost this season’s opener to new boys Aldershot.

Last season, Accy totalled just three draws, although their meetings with Macc ended with honours even, each securing narrow home wins by a one-goal margin.

Coleman has brought in new signings John Mullin (ex-Tranmere), Blackburn loanee Jamie Clarke, former Shrewsbury pair Jimmy Ryan and Colin Murdock, and Chris King from Welsh side TNS.

Former Macc midfielder John Miles has returned to Accrington after his loan spell at Paul Ince’s MK Dons.

For the visitors, Terry Dunfield is still suspended.
