Silkmen's steely edge brings FA fine

6/ 8/2008

MACC have been given a suspended fine of £3,000 for the poor disciplinary record last season.

Although only one red card was shown, to Gareth Evans at Peterborough United, the Silkmen’s 87 yellow cards in league and cup competitions prompted the FA to impose the fine, suspended for 12 months.

Chairman Mike Rance and manager Keith Alexander attended a hearing last month and the written confirmation was received shortly afterwards.

Chief executive Patrick Nelson said: "We accept that, as a team, we received too many yellow cards last season.

"It is something we need to work hard to address and I know Keith and the team are conscious of the fact."

MACC’S BAD BOYS:

  • Terry Dunfield (62 fouls, 12 yellow cards)
  • Martin Gritton (59 fouls, seven yellows)
  • Luke Dimech (53 fouls, nine yellows)
  • Levi Reid (49 fouls, six yellows)
  • Francis Green (44 fouls, three yellows)
