Preview: Chester v Macc

2/ 5/2008

WAYNE Rooney's younger brother John will get his first start as Macclesfield visit Chester in a game counting for little but county pride.

The 17-year-old, who lodges part-time in his brother's Prestbury mansion three miles from the Moss Rose, has impressed in John Askey's highly-rated youth set-up and manager Keith Alexander has promised him a start.

"John will be playing on Saturday. He's a goalscorer and there are only a few of those around," said the boss who has rescued the Silkmen this season with 18 points from 11 games.

With Ryan Cresswell injured and midfielder Terry Dunfield likely to be protected for next season due to his 14 bookings, Macc fans can expect a younger look to the team. On-loan Chester player Sean Hessey is eligible but unlikely to play.

Andrew Teague, whose promising career was cut short with a broken leg at Stockport 18 months ago, is fit and will get the chance to impress.

Key Opponent: Kevin Ellison- If he shakes off injury threat and plays can be dangerous on his day.

Prediction: Macclesfield 2 Chester 1 - Nothing to play for but pride and young Rooney may make his mark.
