Macclesfield 2 Accrington 1

Simon Carter
29/ 3/2008

MACCLESFIELD starlet Shaun Brisley scored a dream double to ease Macc’s relegation fears.

The 17-year-old, born and brought up just 400 yards from the ground, opened the scoring on 15 minutes when he hooked home a Danny Thomas cross.

But Accrington always looked dangerous up front and they equalised on 32 minutes when Ian Craney picked out the far corner from 15 yards.

Brisley restored Macc’s lead when he headed home a Jamie Tolley cross. Macclesfield should have extended their lead after the break but Thomas scooped wide a simple chance from 15 yards.

Accrington were reduced to 10 men when Aswad Thomas was sent off on 70 minutes for throwing the ball in the face of Brisley.

They had their best chance to equalise moments later but Macc goalkeeper Jon Brain made a stunning save to block a James Harris bullet.
