MACCLESFIELD Town took a giant stride towards Football League safety with their best display of the season.
The Silkmen had not won any game this season by more than one goal before today's thumping victory over Barnet.
But even though new boss Keith Alexander has instilled a will to win, he is not celebrating survival yet.
"Any team can put a run together and they're all big games from now on," Alexander said.
"We've taken 10 points from six games since I've been here but really I wanted more and was disappointed with our displays against Brentford and Stockport.
"We've got some good players here and they should have been doing a lot better."
They might have gifted Barnet an early lead when a Ryan Cresswell slip allowed Adam Birchall a shot on the turn, which he fired at Jon Brain.
The Silkmen took the lead in the 31st minute, when left back Neil Ashton delivered a pinpoint free-kick for Danny Thomas to ghost in at the far post and fire home a header from six yards.
Ashton produced another perfect delivery on 41 minutes which was missed by defence and attack, wrong footing keeper Lee Harrison to creep in at the far post.
The result was sealed three minutes after the break when Francis Green waltzed in off the left flank before blasting home his 11th goal of the season.
Alexander said: "You've got to keep on at Franny Green, otherwise he gets complacent. He's got two good feet and a lot of pace and he should have been playing at a higher level."
Macc had further chances, with Gareth Evans seeing a 15-yard shot cleared off the line and Jamie Tolley seeing his volley from 10 yards clawed wide by Harrison.
