Lincoln 3 Macc 1

Simon Carter
16/ 2/2008

MACCLESFIELD Town stumbled further into the relegation mire after a second half collapse at Sincil Bank.

Having dominated the opening exchanges they were a goal to the good on eight minutes when teenage striker Gareth Evans sprung the offside trap, pouncing on to a long ball from Terry Dunfield to round Alan Marriott for his sixth goal of the season.

They could have had more with Sean Hessey, Michael Symes and Francis Green all squandering decent shooting chances.

They were indebted to keeper Jonny Brain on the half hour as he made a breathtaking double save to deny Mark Stallard but in the process he injured himself and had to go off.

Lincoln bossed the second half as Macc sat back and let the opposition take control.

They equalised on 72 minutes when Lenell John-Lewis pounced on a rebound after a firm Jamie Forrester shot.

On 80 minutes Macc conceded the lead when youngster Izak Reid lost possession to allow John-Lewis to pull the ball back for Forrester to smash home.

It was even worse in injury time when Danny N’Guessan dispossessed Neil Ashton before cutting inside and thumping home the third.
