Macclesfield 0 Bradford 1

Simon Carter
2/ 2/2008

A goalkeeping howler from Jon Brain saw Macclesfield's relegation worries increase despite the Silkmen dominating the game for 75 minutes.

Brain was left wearing the dunce's hat after he fluffed a simple clearance to present 18 year old David Brown an open goal on his debut, and the youngster scored with his very first touch.

Brain was handed a lesson in goalkeeping excellence by his opposite number Scott Loach, who made a brilliant double save in the 82nd minute, first clawing wide a Terry Dunfield penalty before blocking a powerful return from Neil Ashton.

Macclesfield had carved out a glut of chances with Levi Reid heading past the far post in the fourth minute and Michael Symes shooting past the far post in the35th minute.

After the interval Symes had further chances to break the deadlock but gave Loach too much time with two close-range headers.
