Saturday’s derby day preview

12/12/2007

SILKMEN front-man Martin Gritton should be fit for Saturday’s latest crunch Cheshire derby clash at home to neighbours and rivals Stockport.

Gritton was forced off in the first half at Barnet on Saturday with a bad cut just above his knee which required stitches.

However, after a couple of days’ rest from training in the early part of this week, he should be okay by the weekend.

Macc’s loan defender Sean Hessey should be available, but Andrew Teague and Richard Edghill will remain on the sidelines.

Stockport have had a mixed week in front of their own fans at Edgeley Park.

Last Tuesday night they slipped to a fifth straight home league defeat - 3-1 at the hands of struggling Lincoln City - but then on Saturday the Hatters crushed play-off chasing Wycombe 6-0.

Striker Adam Proudlock bagged a smart hat-trick, so the Macc defence will have to monitor him.
