MACCLESFIELD recorded only their second away win of the season courtesy of a superb reaction finish from striker Francis Green.
It was his first goal in eight games and it came in the 57th minute after a clever nod through from Danny Thomas.
Green took one touch to control before drilling home a left foot volley on the turn to the far corner.
Macc then had a glut of chances to seal the game with Gareth Evans twice shooting wide, before Thomas beat his man only to shoot over the bar with the goal at his mercy.
Green then warmed the hands of County keeper Kevin Pilkington before he shot inches wide from a narrow angle.
County almost earned a point at the death but Carl Regan cleared an Adam Tann header off the line. Then in injury time Spencer Weir-Daley planted a header two yards wide when it had seemed easier to score.
