Macclesfield 2 Bury 2

Mike Whalley
27/10/2007

MACCLESFIELD let a two-goal lead slip against Bury as the Shakers produced a storming comeback at the Moss Rose.

The Silkmen dominated the first half and were good value for a 2-0 half-time lead against a Bury side who looked out of sorts.

Danny Thomas gave Macc the lead in the 21st minute when he collected Francis Green’s short corner and cut inside before driving a cross shot which Paul Morgan on the line could not keep out.

Levi Reid then hit the crossbar, before Green played through Martin Gritton to double the lead right on half time with a drilled shot for his sixth goal of the season.

But the Shakers were a different side after the break, and Andy Mangan brought them back into the game with a cool lob over Tommy Lee in the 50th minute.

The equaliser came 12 minutes later, when former Shaker Terry Dunfield brought down Mangan in the area, and Nicky Adams sent Lee the wrong way from the spot.

Lee later made a brilliant save from Richie Baker’s free kick to ensure a point for Macc.
