MACCLESFIELD'S errors in front of goal once again cost them dear as they have yet to win at home this season.

They gifted Chester a 2-0 lead in the first half, wasting a succession of gift wrapped chances. As early as the second minute Levi Reid blasted over the bar from 15 yards with Francis Green repeating the feat five minutes later.

They were made to pay when former Silkman John Murphy rose above the defence in the 11th minute to deliver an arching header to the top corner. Macclesfield continued to be wasteful with Green shooting straight at Danby in the 31st minute.

Chester extended their lead with a brilliant 30-yard free kick from Lawrence Wilson in the 41st minute.

Macclesfield again went close after the break when Danny Thomas saw a 15-yard volley superbly saved by Danby. They were given a lifeline through a Terry Dunfield free kick in the 57th minute but they continued to fluff their lines in front of goal and with the last kick of the game Adam Murray hit the post from the edge of box.
