MIDFIELDER Terry Dunfield has revealed his motivation for his role in the victory at Harlow.

Dunfield, who settled the tie with Macc Town’s second goal in the closing stages, has lived in Macclesfield for the last 11 years, and he is relishing the prospect of going back to Manchester City.

If Macc can bypass Port Vale and go into the third-round draw, Dunfield would love the chance to play at the home of ‘the richest club in the world.’

"It would be great to win at Vale and put one over on Ian Brightwell, and get City away. That would be my dream," said the all-action Dunfield, who began his career with a seven-year spell at the Sky Blues.

"I’ve got designs on going back there, but we need to go to Port Vale and perform like we can, and like we did in the last game there.

"We knew it would be a battle at Harlow and this will be too. But first and foremost, we’ve got to crack on in the league for the next few games before we worry about the cup."

Dunfield notched his second goal of the season to end the Essex side’s challenge, was delighted with his strike.

"The ball sat up nicely and I just concentrated on hitting the target," he said. "It was brilliant to see it hit the back of the net.

"Fortunately, it killed the game and made sure it wasn’t a tense last five minutes for us."

Last season’s Player- of-the-Year won’t get ahead of himself, with Macc hovering above the League Two relegation zone, in 20th place.

A popular figure at the club, particularly with the academy players he coaches in his spare time, Dunfield’s style of play and motivational is something he’s looking to take beyond his playing days.

"I’ve been coaching with the academy for a few years and this summer I’ll have all my badges. I missed two years of my career and that time, when you don’t know for sure if you’ll play again, showed me how lucky and how privileged I was to be around football.

"I’d like to give something back and, even though the kids give me a lot of stick on Sunday mornings when we lose, I get a lot out of coaching."
