The Silkmen have added Maxonian Chris Holroyd to their squad in a loan move until January.

The Macc-born striker, 25, came through the renowned youth system at Crewe Alexandra before switching to Chester City.

After his debut in 2006, and 50 outings for Chester, he joined Cambridge United for a spell that saw him called up to the England C team, in which he played and scored in a 2-1 win over Poland alongside Matthew Barnes-Homer, who also found the net in that game.

Holroyd moved to Brighton, and with a loan switch to Stevenage he played his part in their promotion to League One.

Via spells at Bury and Rotherham he rejoined former Stevenage boss Graham Westley at Preston. He made his debut at Lincoln and within a minute of replacing Waide Fairhurst, scored what turned out to be the winning goal.

Meanwhile, Portuguese midfielder Andre Da Costa and defender James Bolton, a youth squad graduate, have joined Blue Square Bet North side Workington Town on loan.
