STEVE Hewitt has been offered a full time playing contract with Premier League side Burnley.

Steve has been with the Clarets for the past two seasons after being sent in on trial by PFC Academy Director, Lee Waddington.

Lee said: "Steve has been absolutely top class when training each week with the academy and this has translated into him being successful at Burnley.

"Steve has been with the PFC Academy for nearly 10 years and is vindication of our unique style, not just of coaching but of locating, nurturing and developing top quality players.

"He deserves this contract and hopefully it be the first of many.

" Every top footballer was once a grass-roots player. Each one progressed through the development stages of free play, organised activity and, when their talent was identified, into serious, deliberate practice in a professional environment."

The PFC Academy was launched in 2007, aiming to develop young players who strive to achieve their own goals within football.

In the last 18 months, 16 members have joined the Lancashire club.

Any local player who feels they have what it takes to play at a higher level and would like the opportunity to join the PFC academy sessions should call Lee on 01625 415 151 or 07967 392 484.
