STYAL recovered from a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Pilkingtons.

Pilkingtons had three shots on goal in the 90 minutes. The only one which didn’t go in was a disputed penalty, which was fired against the Styal crossbar.

Styal dominated the game territorially for the first half but the ball never dropped kindly for them in the Pilkingtons’ box.

Pilkingtons struck late on during the half, with the goal coming from a Styal corner, and again early in the second period, to give them a flattering 2-0 lead.

Styal, who had introduced Thornton to link up with the forwards and Mairs went into the midfield, were back in the game after Matthews’ stinning left footer. Graham netted the other.

In other fixtures, Styal Reserves beat Garswood Reserves 3-0 and Styal A lost 2-1 against King George.
