Pack Horse finished off their record breaking season in style, thrashing Macc Boys Seniors 7-1 at Mary Dendy Fields.

Matt Towns’ team have now won six Sunday League Premier Division titles in a row, a Macclesfield Sunday League record, overtaking IAS in the process and undoubtedly stretching a record that will take some beating.

On target for Pack Horse – who play Cheadle Lions in the FA Sunday Cup at Moss Rose next weekend – were Lee Malkin (2), Simon Gibbons, Nick Ward, Towns, Jordan Hitchen and Simon Band. Josh Hunt scored a consolation for the visitors.

The game between Vale and Prestbury Club finished all square at Back Lane. Craig Hewitt was on target for Vale with Nicky Scott replying for Prestbury.

Congratulations too must go to Ox-fford who finished as runners-up and were the only team to inflict defeat on the league champions this season.

A nail-biting final week in the First Division saw a Bollington one-two at the top, with Spinners crowned champions with Queens second up in a dramatic finale.

It’s been a remarkable debut season for Queens who have deservedly won promotion and it was fitting it all finished at Bollington Leisure Centre where they have played so well this season. On the score sheet against Nags Head were Dave Brindle, Stuart Ainsworth (with a trademark 30-yard effort) and Ryan Foster.

Celebration

Champions Spinners celebrated with a 4-2 victory against Chester Road Tavern and, having secured the title, will be trying to capture more silverware in Thursday’s League Cup final at Moss Rose. Dan Hunter led the scoring with a brace with Dave Grindey and Stephen Steele completing the win. Chester Road goals came from Tegg Westbrook and Rob Swindells.

At Clarke Lane Chilli Banana poured more misery on arch rivals Sporting Kerridge, their 4-1 win ensuring bragging rights at least for another season. Graham Boultbee gave Chilli the lead and Alex Kirk drew the visitors level before half-time but the second half belonged to the home team. Mark Birchenough, a Mike Meszaros penalty and Teddy Joseph’s completed the scoring.

There was a goal fest in Poynton where the home side lost 5-3 to an in-form Tytherington Juniors side who finish their season comfortably in mid-table.

Rick Cash scored twice for the home team with a Dan Moult notching a penalty. For Tythy, Nick Hadfield scored twice with Chris Allen, Lewis Peterson and James Moon also on the score sheet.

Blueberry and Macc Boys Juniors began their last 90 minutes of the season with a dour first 45 but in the second half the game sprang into life when Juniors’ Scott Meszaros netted. Blueberry levelled straight from the kick off and Jermaine Leveridge put them ahead. Paul Jones made it 3-1 but Macc Boys were still in it and Matt Stoten ensured a nervy final few minutes as he made it 3-2, hoisting the ball over the advancing keeper.

In fact it was Blueberry keeper Lee Smith who saved them on several occasions. Time and again he thwarted the visitors, including a fantastic penalty save, and brave block on the rebound, from Scott Meszaros.

It was a disappointing end to the season for Macc Boys but proved a fitting farewell for Blueberry manager Ben Atkins who is moving to Holland.
