Macclesfield Town have added extra height to their defence, with the loan capture of Ben Futcher.

The veteran centre-back comes to the Moss Rose on a three-month deal from League One side Bury, after having completed loan spells at Blue Square Bet Premier sides Mansfield Town and AFC Telford.

Futcher will be welcomed by a host of familiar faces at Macc, with Lincoln old boys Paul Morgan and Simon Yeo among the players who brought success to Sincil Bank under Keith Alexander and Gary Simpson.

Futcher has been drafted in in the wake of Shaun Brisley’s loan departure to Peterborough United and Simpson said: "Once I knew Futch would be available then I was keen to get him to the club.

"At 6ft 7in he’s obviously got a lot of presence but he’s more than just another pair of legs.

"And we’ll see what else is available that we might be able to get in because we could do with some help at the minute. Hopefully with the arrival of players like Futch we can start to move forward."

Futcher began his career at Oldham Athletic and has made more than 400 appearances during his career and was heavily involved in Bury’s promotion winning season last year.
