MACCLESFIELD Town have signed Manchester City central defender Nathan D'Laryea on a month's loan deal.

The 21-year old defender regularly captained City's reserve team but has yet to make a first-team appearance for the club.

D'Laryea was an unused substitute during Saturday's 3-0 win against Hereford and will provide the competition for places that Macc boss Paul Ince sees as crucial to maintaining his side's fine recent form.

Nathan, whose twin brother Jonathan signed for Mansfield after City loaned him to the Stags a year ago, has been on the books at the Premiership club since he was ten years old.

He said: "I'm delighted to be at Macclesfield, to be honest, and I'm hoping very much that I can get some first-team action here, and help us climb up the table.

"Although I have been in the first-team squad on a few occasions at City, I haven't yet made the bench there, so I was pleased that the gaffer put me on the bench on Saturday.

"It was a great win and sets us up nicely for this weekend's game against Swindon, which will be a tough one."

The ambitious defender is looking to continue learning his trade at Macc, adding: "I want to be successful in football. I want to go back to City knowing that I've made a difference and I'll be pushing hard to get onto the pitch as much as possible."
