MACCLESFIELD Town have received a further blow in their survival fight with Tommy Lee returning to Manchester United.

The goalkeeper has been in outstanding form since arriving from the Premiership giants, but the 20-year-old completed his 90-day loan period yesterday (Monday).

Brian Horton brought Lee to the club for a one-month loan deal back in February after injuries to first-choice shot-stopper Alan Fettis and Tim Deasy. But the young keeper impressed so much that the Silkmen manager was eager to extend his stay for a further two months.

In that time, Lee, who made 12 appearances for Town, has produced a string of superb displays to keep veteran keeper Fettis out of the team since he returned from a thigh problem.

Leeés departure will come as a blow to the Silkmen, who are still not safe following Easter Mondayés 2-0 defeat against bottom club Torquay.

"Tommy Leeés going back to United now, heés had the 90 days of his loan and that was his last game," explained Horton. "I feel for him because heés played really well while heés been here and I think some of the more experienced players in front of him should take the blame for some of the goals heés conceded."

Fettis, 35, will replace Lee for Maccés crucial trip to promotion-chasing Peterborough on Saturday, with Deasy taking his place on the substitutesé bench.

It will be the former Northern Ireland internationalés first start since being dropped after the Silkmenés 3-1 home defeat against Rochdale on March 11.
