MACC Boys Seniors moved into the third round of the Macclesfield and Districy Sunday League Cup after after a polished performance against Vale at Bollington Cross.

After a topsy-turvy first half of the season the Seniors will be hoping their form continues into the New Year as, when they are in form, they are certainly a match for anyone.

Despite David Holmes hitting his third of the season for Vale, strikes from Rick Pulvergraft, Josh Roberts, Eddie Roberts, Jon Walters and Simon Gibbons undid the team from Back Lane.

At Windmill Street Boarhound took on fellow Division One outfit Macc Boys Juniors and it was Boarhound striker Declan Fletcher who stole the show as, for the second time in a month he hit five goals in a match to take his season's tally to 18 in all competitions, thanks in no small part to the selfless work of striker Andy Shard and the guile and pace of winger Craig Hayes.

A quite remarkable game at Bonis Hall Lane saw First Division leaders Albion Rovers edge out Premier side Prestbury Club 6-4 in a 10-goal thriller. With the game tied, Rovers were awarded a late penalty by referee Andy Atkinson for a handball, an action that also saw the offender dismissed.

Gareth Gibbons gave the visitors the lead with seconds remaining, but, almost straight from the re-start, 10-man Prestbury powered upfield to equalise through Chris Connors.

Unfortunately for the hosts, extra-time belonged to Rovers who took full advantage of their extra man. Gibbons’ second penalty completed his hat-trick, Jamie Collins (2) reached 20 for the season and Barney Cutbill made it six. Connors hit all four for Prestbury, making it 13 in all competitions for him.

League leaders Three Crowns were shaken by a Brewers team who must be ruing their early season inconsistency which could have seen them much closer to the league leaders than the nine-point gap that currently exists.

Remarkably the game was 3-3 at the interval but the second half belonged to the visitors who scored five without reply.

Matt Woolley’s tenacious tackling in midfield unsettled the hosts and, with strikers Jake McGarry and Danny Bailey in fine form, Crowns looked vulnerable, which will give the chasing pack plenty of encouragement. Despite a first-half brace from Greg Mathers and Andy Foote’s sixth goal of the season, Brewers’ second-half onslaught was too much. McGarry’s treble made it 15 for the season, with Martin Firth and Bailey hitting two apiece. Brewers move up to third in the table.

Pack Horse weren’t in very festive mood as they despatched Blueberry 15-1 in their derby game at Mary Dendy Fields, a match that kept referee Pete Gregory on his toes keeping score.

Pete Eccles scored for a depleted Blueberry who were no match for the Pack, who shared the goals around the team. Lee Malkin scored five, Jono Campbell three, Mike Mezarios and Craig Scott two each, Terry Costello, Simon Band and Martin Quigley all scored one each.

At Bollington Rec, AC Bollan moved into fourth place after a comfortable victory against strugglers Ox-Fford.

Tim Hammond opened the scoring for the hosts, poaching his 14th goal of the season, with Ben Davenport and John Williams also on target in good spirited game.

Sporting Kerridge made a welcome return to winning ways as they secured their third win of the season against Poynton who are struggling of late.

Sporting haven’t been getting the results their efforts deserve but this result should give them hope for the second half of the season.

On the score sheet for the hosts were Simon Williams, Scott Saunders, Dave Findlow and Paul Stevenson with his first of the season. Adam Rimmer and Rick Cash, with his eighth goal in all competitions, scored for Poynton.

Baths made it seven wins out of seven but they were made to fight hard for the victory which was harsh on a fast improving Tythy Juniors side.

Tythy actually took the lead with a David Scott strike. Two scrappy goals from Andy Wells and Anthony Byrne made it 2-1 to Baths and, as the visitors’ resolve foundered, Byrne, Lee Anderson and Mark Gee secured all three points.
