Railway View steamed into the semi-finals off the Macc and District FA Sunday Cup with a fine second half showing against Higher Poynton.

After a tentative opening 45 minutes with no goals and few chances, this tie exploded into life on 51 minutes when Ben Brazier sent younger brother Oli through to fire a low shot past Marcus Pencheon.

Barely a minute later it was 2-0 as Mike Harrison beat the goalkeeper to a loose ball and was left with a simple tap-in.

It was one-way traffic with Higher Poynton looking stunned at the position they found themselves in and 10 minutes later it got worse as they conceded a third, Andy Mitchell heading home a Jamaine Leveridge corner unchallenged.

Curtis Thompson gave Higher Poynton hope with a quarter of the game left but all his good work was undone as they were reduced to 10 men five minutes later and View substitute Sam Bradley added the fourth two minutes from time.

Pack Horse joined Railway in the last four after an inspired second-half hat-trick from Harry Wheetman saw them win 4-2 at Valiant.

Pack Horse took the lead after five minutes with a classic route one goal, Jake McGarry finishing with ease.

Ricky Mallen equalised following a free kick on the edge of the visitors’ penalty area and Jamie McNicholas gave Valiant a narrow advantage going into the second half.

Whatever was said at half-time worked as Pack Horse came out with purpose and turned the tie around, McGarry scoring three without reply.

East Cheshire Sunday League side Blue Mugge reserves ended Leek team Peover’s involvement with a 2-0 win, Mike Keates and Carl Foster scoring in the first half.

Meanwhile, the current cup holders Cheadle Lions reached the final four with a 3-1 win at another Leek side, Wellington Inn.

In Macclesfield SFL action, an excellent match between second and third in the Premier Division, AC Bollan and Vale, went Bollan’s way with MOTM Fran Oliver netting the winning goal.

Lee McIntyre opened the scoring in the first half from the penalty spot with his ninth goal of the season and Oliver nodded home to give the home side a two-goal lead at the break.

Oliver made it 3-0 early in the second half as his shot crashed in off the bar but, far from breaking Vale’s resolve, it appeared to strengthen it.

Back they came with Chris Ogden firing in a free kick and Ian Wolfenden adding a second to set up a frantic finale.

Both sides had chances to add to their tally with Vale seeing a chance cleared off the line but Bollan held out to take all three points.

A vital game at the bottom of the division saw Ox-fford just edge out Plough 4-3 to claim only their third win in the league this season.

Both sides have struggled to hit form this season and Plough, promoted last season, are looking favourites to return to the First Division having failed to win a single game. They ran Ox-fford close with Jamie Beech and Gaz Burns both scoring first half goals but trailed 3-2 at half-time.

After Alex Rottenbury had got the visitors back on track with a wonderful equaliser, Chris Mason popped up to score a crucial winner for Ox-fford.

Queens were on the wrong end of a 9-3 mauling off league leaders Boarhound, who are scoring goals for fun at the moment.

The game was as good as over by half-time as Boarhound led 4-1 but they pressed on in the second hal.

However their desire to boost their goal difference left gaps at the back allowing Queens to score twice through a John Davidson penalty and Tom Wild.

MOTM Dec Fletcher was outstanding, scoring six times but the secret of Boarhound’s success is that they score goals from anywhere – and centre-half Matt Delargy and midfielder Ben Hamand were among the goals as was Fletcher’s strike partner Dave Short.

A poor game in difficult conditions between Spinners and Prestbury Club went Spinners’ way,

The only highlights were John Whitehead’s wonderful goal for Prestbury in the second half and Gaz Richards’ hat-trick.

In the First Division, Broken Cross haven’t let their recent loss to Railway dent their title ambitions as they continue to win with something to spare.

Jonno Campbell and Paul Chamberlain gave them a two-goal cushion at the break against Chilli Banana but the floodgates opened in the second half after the introduction of Tom Moores, who scored twice himself and was instrumental as they netted a further four times.

Campbell completed his hat-trick and there were goals from Stephen Webb and Rick Hopkin in an 8-0 win.

A tight game between two of the top sides in the league saw Nags Head edge out rivals Bruce A with second-half goals from Paul Cooke and top scorer Lee Anderson.

MOTM was awarded to Nags keeper Rob Ainsworth who kept his first clean sheet in two seasons.

Poynton Village got a deserved three points by beating Bruce B 3-1 at Congleton Road after finally managing to get a fixture played.

Stan Williams-Arnold’s goal wasn’t enough for the hosts as they conceded three times to Lee Stubbs, Rick Cash and Carl Meredith.

There was a welcome point for Lord Byron against draw specialists Fox and Grapes at Lacy Green but it was a bad-tempered match between two determined sides that on occasion threatened to boil over.

Nick Gosling scored twice for Fox with top scorer Ryan Skerritt grabbing his seventh goal of the season.

For Byron, the goals game from Harry Lewis, Joe Knight and Joe Street.

An excellent match between two well matched sides in Poynton Legion and Fermain was just edged by Fermain by Graham Cooper. Luke Williams had given Legion the lead with his 11th of the season but Steven Marshall levelled before half- time.

Tytherington Juniors got the better of Sporting Weston 4-2 in a crucial encounter between two sides starting the day in the bottom three.

Tythy have benefited from the resignation of Premier Division Macc Boys Seniors, picking up several experienced players and they made their mark with Chris Coppenhall picking up a debut goal.

Sporting battled hard and were disappointed with the final score but they did find the net through Carl Barlow and Richard Nesbitt, who scored straight from a corner.

In addition to Coppenhall’s goal, Tythy’s other goalscorers were Stephen Bellerby, Gary Taylor and Lewis Peterson with his 10th of the season.
