LOSING is a feeling John Askey still hasn’t got used to.

And if his Macclesfield Town players continue to give them everything they have, such as their full-on efforts at Barnet, he won’t have to start any time soon.

Although he knew the task facing them at The Hive, the Macc Town boss left north London desperately disappointed to be going home empty-handed, though his players’ work ethic was some consolation.

“It doesn’t matter who you lose to, whether it’s the top or the bottom of the league, you’re always disappointed to lose,” he revealed after Saturday's loss.

"I don't think Moke's goal reached the back of the net did it? But a goal's a goal and when you're in front you're always disappointed when you lose, whatever sport it is.

“I can’t have any complaints about it, we’ve played really well and got a goal and we created one or two chances, it was as good an away performance as we’ve shown.

“In the second half we started well again but they’ve scored when we had everybody behind the ball, I was disappointed by that.

“But we’ve switched off from a free kick for their second goal. If you do that against any team you’re going to come unstuck.

“So I’m really disappointed with the second goal, the third one came when we were pushing but as I say I was pleased with the way we played. We'll pick ourselves up and gain confidence from it and go again.

“It’s only a disgrace to lose if you don’t put the effort in – that’s all I ask. Losing is a horrible feeling but one that we’ve not had to get used to this season.

“I’ve never really got used to it and I don’t want that to creep in.”
