Pack Horse are the Premier Division champions once again after securing the two wins they needed to overhaul Boarhound at the top.

After a 5-2 midweek victory against Queens they took on a struggling Ox-fford on a pitch that looked like a summer meadow, covered in dandelions and preventing any type of flowing football.

Both teams coped surprisingly well and after a cagey opening it was Pack who created the best chance when Nick Ward’s header from Jake McGarry’s corner was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Ox-fford keeper Rob Cooke. Ox-fford responded as Jordan Leigh forced an excellent save from Dom Chell but two goals in five minutes for the visitors then stunned Ox-fford.

First McGarry scored a typical poacher’s goal and then his cross allowed Ward to power home an unstoppable header. Ox-fford needed a goal early in the second half to get a foothold in the game but it didn’t come and, with Pack Horse having the luxury of bringing Nick Stone off the bench, closed out the game.

Matt Woolley bagged a brace in stoppage time, the first after Lee Malkin had knocked the ball square and a second a nochanlantly stroke into the bottom corner.

Pack’s 4-0 win marks the beginning of an exciting 10 days with a treble in mind. Having secured the Premier Division title they now face two cup finals at the Moss Rose.

With the title already decided it was pride that was at stake in the First Division and it produced some great football. Railway View manager Ian Armitt tinkered with his team to face Chilli Banana but they still managed to win 7-0 including a first goal of the campaign for popular centre-half Stan Hall, one of the players of the season. Also on the score sheet were keeper Gaz Hughes, Anthony Connor and two each for midfield workhorses Ryan Stewart and Mike Harrison.

Chilli gave their own keeper Nathan Taylor a run up front for the last 20 minutes but Hughes scuppered his chance of glory with a smart save from his curling free kick.

The biggest score of the day was Bruce A’s 9-2 victory over Lord Byron at Lacey Green. Bruce are chasing third place and victory puts them level on points with Fermain with one game to go. Oli Gray, Joe Evans, Scott Meszaros and Mark Parkinson all scored twice with Ash Allot hitting the ninth.

Byron replied with goals from Joe Street and Lewis Frazer.

Joining Bruce with an outside chance of third are Nags Head, who played their best football in several weeks in their 3-2 victory against Bruce B. The scoreline didn’t reflect their dominance but, credit to the visitors, they stuck to their task and goals from Mike Teagle and Jake Lodge always kept them in touch.

Nags’ goals came from Anthony Byrne, Rob Ainsworth and Keith Hodgson.

Poynton Legion took advantage of 10-man Tytherington Juniors as they scored seven at Barnaby Road running out 7-2 victors.

Luke Williams bagged a hat-trick and was joined on the score sheet by Matt Smith, Matt Roylance, Rob Bradbury and Daz Moses.

Sporting Weston continued their excellent run of form with a 4-4 draw against Poynton Village.

The visitors must have thought they’d done enough as two goals from Bobby Cash, and one apiece from Carl Meredith and Dave Berwick, had them leading 4-3 going into the final minute but Sporting have shown a real fighting spirit of late and deservedly earned a point with a last-gasp equaliser.

On target were Ash Brown, Scott Boulton, Josh Njai and Josh Leigh.
