WITH both sides already out of this season’s FA Cup, this Saturday will see the Mariners, having installed Neil Woods as their new manager, take on Macclesfield.

Woods took over after Mike Newell’s departure with Grimsby firmly entrenched in the bottom two and the new man in charge has seen his side take three points from his four games in temporary charge.

The struggling Mariners are on a wretched run and, ahead of their Tuesday night game with Bradford, have yet to win in nine straight games.

Grimsby hosted Macc on the final day of last season and the goalless draw was enough for them to escape relegation.

This time around they’re struggling for goals, with veteran Barry Conlon on four and Peter Sweeney five in all competitions.

In fact, five of the 10 league clashes have ended all-square and the draw is 11/2 at Betfred this weekend. Macc are slight favourites to take the points at 11/10 (Victor Chandler) and you can get 11/5 on Grimsby. Macc are 13/5 to win by the odd goal.
