MACCLESFIELD Town go before the Football Association on Monday - and will discover their fate the same day.

The Silkmen have pleaded guilty to two counts of financial irregularities after being charged with four breaches relating to the building of the McAlpine Stand. They have denied the other two.

The Cheshire club requested a personal hearing and were due to go before football’s governing body on November 15.

But Town asked for the hearing to be adjourned, and they will now face the FA at Soho Square on Monday at 11am where, if found guilty, they could face a points deduction or hefty fine.

Macc face three charges concerning a grant received from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund for the building of the new stand between 2000 and 2002. The fourth breach relates to the club’s accounting records.

The FA have open-ended powers in such cases, including the ability to deduct points if the commission finds the Silkmen guilty.

The repercussions of a guilty verdict could be disastrous for Macc, who are just five points off the bottom of the league table and losing up to £25,000 a month due to falling attendances.
