SILKMEN midfielder Levi Reid has spoken of his delight after finally bagging his first goal since arriving at the Moss Rose in last weekend’s draw at Barnet.

Speaking to mtfc.co.uk, Reid said: "Scoring goals has never been one of my strong points, so it was great to get off the mark on Saturday.

"Jimmy’s early goal had given us a boost and I think we caught them off guard a bit.

"Adam Murray put a great ball through which was just too far in front of me.

"But the boss is always encouraging us to gamble and not to just assume the ball is dead.

"So I kept going and was in the right spot when the goalie spilt it.

"He seemed to have collected it fine, but with the conditions being so wet and difficult it just seemed to slip out of his hands.

"It was still a tight angle but thankfully I kept my head and it was great to see it finish up in the back of the net.

"It’s just a shame we weren’t able to carry on and take the three points which I think our performance merited.

"We were disappointed to concede two goals to headers, but after we had settled down on the coach for the journey home, the shock of the injury time goal was replaced with more of a feeling that we had battled hard and were full value for the point."
