Pack Horse kept the pressure up on Macc and District SFL leaders Railway View with a crucial 2-1 victory over Broken Cross at Mary Dendy Fields.

In a predictably tight game with few clear-cut chances it was going to take a mistake by one side to break the deadlock, and for Cross it proved costly.

Stephen Webb’s back-pass was misjudged by Lee Smith and Harry Wheetman took full advantage, rounding the stricken keeper and passing the ball into an empty net.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Pack stopper Dom Chell the busier keeper but the game changed when Lee McIntyre replaced James Goodier up front. He caused problems immediately and doubled Pack’s lead with 20 minutes remaining, sliding into a challenge with Lee Smith and poking the ball home.

Another substitute, Tom Moores, deservedly got Broken Cross back in the game at 2-1 seven minutes later, stooping low to head in a loose ball after good work from Liam Hadfield and Dave Hancox but they couldn’t conjure up another.

Railway View secured three points against Prestbury Club at Windmill Street with a strong first-half display. Danny Hayes scored twice and Oli Brazier added a third to give the league leaders a three-goal cushion. John Whitehead pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Queens were hit by a sucker punch as they went down 3-2 to Vale. They bossed the first half but couldn’t capitalise and twice fell behind in the second half.

Callum Stanley headed them level at 1-1 and Ryan Foster scrambled home to make it 2-2 but straight from the restart Vale grabbed the winner. Ian Wolfenden (2) and Ryan O’Riley scored for the jubilant visitors, who go third.

Boarhound bounced back from last week’s cup defeat, defeating Fermain 3-1 at Oxford Road. With the title seemingly out of reach already this is certainly a step in the right direction for last season’s runners-up. Dave Short was instrumental, scoring twice, with Jamaine James adding a third. Scott Barber scored for Fermain.

In Division One Tim Hammond rolled back the years with a man-of-the-match performance and a hat-trick for Bruce as they hit 10 against Albion at Back Lane. It was a polished performance as they scored five goals in each half and only conceded one. Joining Hammond on the score sheet were Nick Dobson and substitute Scott Meszaros, who both scored twice, with Stephen Marshall, Liam Grey and Ash Ault grabbing one apiece.

Inter Macc continue to impress after a 6-2 victory over Poynton Village. The visitors, desperately short of firepower, have been relying on centre half Greg Willis to find the net and he scored again, but neither he nor Nick Allen – who scored his first for the club – could match the exploits of Inter’s James Slater, who scored five, Eddie Roberts adding a sixth.

Tytherington Juniors slumped to a 5-1 defeat against Chilli Banana at Congleton Road. Jimmy Baskerville was instrumental in the visitors’ victory which included first-half goals from Dave Finlow, Matt Beresford and two from Matt Fairhurst. Beresford added a fifth in the second half and Mark Sutton was on target for Tythy.

Nags Head remain top of the table after a 4-2 win over Poynton Legion. Lee Johnstone did the damage scoring three with Rob Ainsworth completing the scoring. For Legion Luke Rimmer and Mike Belshaw netted.
