Pack Horse took a step closer to retaining the Macclesfield and District League Premier Division title for the eighth successive year after a hard fought victory against rivals Boarhound.

The only goal of the game came 10 minutes from time courtesy of yet another free kick from centre half Jordan Hitchen.

Bruce’s title aspirations were put on hold as they struggled to a 1-1 draw with Tytherington Juniors at Back Lane. Chris Marr opened the scoring for Tythy in the first half and Tim Hammond fashioned an equaliser before half time but they really needed all three points if they were to put the pressure on Nags Head.

Sporting Weston belied their league position as they battled hard and looked more likely to score against a lacklustre Legion side.

After a goalless first half in which both sides had chances the deadlock was finally broken by Legion on 67 minutes when Rob Bradbury rose at the far post to head home Stu Bradbury’s corner.

Seven minutes from time they doubled their advantage with a carbon-copy goal. This time it was Bradbury taking the corner and Steve Little with the header.

Sporting came back though, Jason Hanaghan seeing his cross-shot hit the post. Three minutes from time they got the goal their endeavour undoubtedly deserved.

Adam Searle launched an enormous throw into the area and Andy Mitchell pounced. Try as they might Sporting couldn’t find the equaliser and at the final whistle Legion breathed a sigh of relief.

Chilli Banana learnt from their mistakes last week and put Poynton Village to the sword with a great team performance as they ran out 9-1 winners.

Dan Moult scored a great goal for Poynton but they were no match for a Chilli side for whom Matt Fairhurst, Josh Williamson and David Finlow all scored twice and Jordan Ruscoe, Jonny Leigh and Graham Boultbee completed the scoring.

INTER Macc’s excellent season continues apace as they reached the League Cup semi-finals with a 3-2 victory over Division One leaders Nags Head. The winning goal came 10 minutes from time, Simon Gibbons pouncing for Inter.

He and Carl Gilbert had already scored with Nags’ twin strike force of Craig Poyser and Anthony Byrne both on target.

The consolation for Nags Head is knowing the Division One title is within their grasp, providing they hold their nerve in the final run-in.

Queens made it six wins in a row in all competitions after a comfortable 3-1 victory against Fermain at Bollington Cross.

With the departure of Jake McGarry, Ryan Foster teamed up with Stu Ainsworth up front and the partnership worked a treat.

Foster opened the scoring in the first half but Tom Connor’s penalty meant the sides went in level at half time.

In the second half Foster made it 2-1, assisted for a second time by Ainsworth and Ainsworth later found the net himself to secure the points.

IN THE Trade Mark Collections East Cheshire League, only one game took place, and it saw High Lane beat Old Alts A 7-0.

James Williamson provided three goals and two assists in a starring performance for Tony Mitchell’s side.

Jack Gorrie netted, and he was joined on the score sheet by Jake Getcheffsky, Dave Wild and Tony Graydon.
